Pushing Forward

09/11/2023

Both B days, the margin for learning has only begun to grow as I start to finally make progress in the ISM program. I was able to complete all assignments on time, while staying ahead in order to achieve success by my standard. The week included creating a bibliography where I was required to research and annotate five articles regarding my topic. Two articles were already completed from past incidents - I set my goals to look for three more articles regarding importance or interest in my topic. All three articles were from the same website hub, all covering topics from java profilers, to making production of applications easier via devOps and their quirks. During this assignment, I was able to hold myself accountable for completing the assignments ontime and with an intrinsic understanding of my topic. During annotations, I continuously exceeded the required work count of the annotations in order to meet my expectation and fuel my learning. Although I was able to acquire this knowledge, most of the learning was unfortunately done outside the classroom, as I was unprofessional during class time by conversing with my fellow classmates more than I would have appreciated. This brings upon me my personal conundrum: Deciphering the line between time to work hard and time to relax. I was able to overcome this last week by subduing my intrinsic urge to talk, and instead focusing only on the task at hand to achieve the best success to my ability. Shuffling back to my topic, I have found the value of learning more about more famous applications and their developers' background stories to complete the application: This gives me a goal for this week, so I can use the time given to me by this program to the best of my ability.
